Oh I love Thanksgiving! I make my own meal the night before for my little family. Here is my special potatoes I only make for Thanksgiving...
Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes
4 pounds white creamer potatoes (or whatever you have) 1 T garlic salt 1 1/2 cups buttermilk 4 T butter 2 T fresh or dried chives 2 T alfredo sauce mix (McCormick-recommended) Salt and pepper
In a large pot cover potatoes with cold water. Add garlic salt and bring to a boil over high heat. Lower temp and simmer until tender.
While potatoes are simmering, pour buttermilk in a saucepan and add butter. Bring to a simmer. Add chives and alfredo sauce mix. Remove from heat and set aside.
Drain potatoes and return to pot. Mash potatoes until smooth. Slowly add the buttermilk mixture and mix until creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
